Easter: Via Dolorosa is Latin for ‘the way of suffering’ and as such was a fitting name for the road Jesus followed, carrying His cross to Golgotha. This song was written to tell the tragic story of Jesus’ suffering with new words and music, which is why a ballad was chosen as the form. Both tragic and compelling, the proclaiming nature of the bridge leading into the chorus underscores the need for Good Friday time and again; the blood that was shed, was for the salvation of all mankind! The tender ends to these choruses make this image personal time and again. This was done for you and me. At the same time, it portrays the long road to Golgotha; Good Friday is the road to Easter.
